The Bahá’í writings attach great importance to the periods of childhood and youth, providing clear guidance to parents and communities to raise children in a nurturing and unambiguous environment. Thus, Bahá'í communities sponsor moral education classes for children and youth of all backgrounds.
Children's Classes
Education programs for children are based on the teachings of Baha’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i Faith, and seek to inspire in children a love for God, a love for His Manifestations, and a love for humanity. Classes promote principles of unity, virtues education, global awareness, and a commitment to serving others. Children explore what it means to be a world citizen in an emerging global community with programs that honor the ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity of our planet.
Classes are complemented with activities that include: Story telling, cooperative games, environmental activities, multicultural arts and crafts, recreation, service projects, outdoor excursions, artisitc presentations, and more!
Junior-Youth & Youth Programs
Bahá'í junior youth programs aim to assist young people, as they move from childhood through adolescence, to further develop their spiritual capacities, sharpen their intellectual capabilities, and inspire an attitude of service toward others. Designed for young people between the ages of 12 and 15, participants engage in a participatory mode of learning where facilitators and participants learn from each other. They also engage in activities such as group consultation, cooperative activities, peer teaching, artistic performances, and various acts of community service. They are encouraged to develop a strong sense of purpose, to become empowered so as to empower others, and to discover their personal roles in shaping a healthy and vibrant community.
Junior youth programs are based on the teachings of Baha’u’llah and are open to all, subject to parental approval. All program facilitators are certified under the Baha’i Child Protection Policy, which includes a mandatory police check. All our education programs are open to the public and are offered free of charge - our gift of service to the larger Waterloo community. If you would like to enroll your child or receive more information about our programs please contact us.
